Franconia Notch Programs

The 2018 Discover the Power of Parks program have begun. Interpretive rangers, Haley Lesmerises and Kate Seader have planned informative and fun programs for you to take advantage of while visiting Franconia Notch State Park. All programs are free with paid park admission. No pre-registration is required. Visit the Franconia Notch office or call 603-745-8391 for more information on upcoming programs.

Bats! Fact vs. Fiction
Debunking myths, bat related games and more!

Bear Aware
Welcome to Bear Country! Stop by and learn about black bears, make your own bear mask, and develop habits that keep both you and the bears safe.

Busy Wings & Petals
As the last blooms of the season come out we can learn about them and the wonderful creatures that are their pollinators. Flower crafts, anatomy, and pollinator matching.

Fall Harvest
Learn how cider is made, NH’s major fall crops, and traditional fall foraging foods.

Furbearers of New Hampshire
Come learn about some of NH’s furry residents! Examine pelts and tracks of some of NH’s furbearers.

Glaciers: Movers and Shapers
Did you know this whole valley was once covered in ice? Join Ranger Kate and learn all about the things that shaped the Notch: glaciers, erosion, and us!

Invasive Species
It’s important to keep our forests healthy, and to do that we need to do our best to keep out invasive pests. Join Ranger Haley and learn about invasive insects.

Just In Case
New Hampshire Parks wants you to hike safe. Test your skills, learn some tips, and hear some stories about Search and Rescue.

Leave No Trace
We all want to enjoy the beauty of Franconia Notch. Come learn the principles of Leave No Trace to discover how we can all keep our footprints small.

Leaf Peeping Tree ID
How well do you know your NH trees? Enjoy a guided walk with Ranger Haley and learn how to ID trees or just enjoy viewing the foliage.

New Hampshire Bird ID
Franconia Notch is home to Peregrine Falcons, Bald Eagles and more! Join Ranger Haley to learn about birds found in the White Mountains!

No Time to Waste
Can I recycle a plastic bag? How long before an apple core breaks down? Have your questions answered and learn how you can make a positive impact by reducing our waste!

Snakes of New Hampshire
Examine a snake-skin and learn about the snakes of NH including the endangered Timber Rattlesnake with Ranger Haley!

Listen to some of the tales behind the constellations told by Ranger Haley, or spend a relaxing evening simply gazing at the beautiful star-lit sky.
